This is one of the Media Molecule Originals (MM Originals) created in its Dreams game engine that anyone can access on PlayStation. This means the game gets financial backing and team members to take the game from idea to professional product.
Tren is described as a "high-score chasing, track-building adventure" about a wooden toy train set. Various modes shown off offered a range of gameplay, some open world train tinkering and timed challenges.
The game offers real physics so you have to go the right speed not to loose cargo from the trucks and not to loose trucks from the track. To this end you can upgrade the power, handling and speed of your vehicles. You have to use these abilities to deal with the different track scenarios, lifts, see-saws, turntables and the like.
Expected Content Rating: PEGI 3
Skill Rating: 6-11 year-olds
Release Date: Coming soon
Platforms: PS4 and PS5
Genres: Platform, Puzzle and Simulation
The rating for Tren is a little strange. You will need to purchase Dreams to access the game, which is rated PEGI 12 and EVERYONE 10+. However, the content in Tren itself is likely to be at a PEGI 3 and ESRB EVERYONE level.
Skill Rating: This game is enjoyed by 6-11 year-olds as it's a good match for their ability and maturity. Very young players may need help with the physics aspects of the play, also the Dreams cursor is currently used to switch vehicles which requires some dexterity.
