Play Overview
Wildmender (2023) is a world-building game where you unearth the past in the desert. Play involves exploring to discover what has gone before, so you can restore the environment for your future. You work to revive withering plant life, cultivate a garden and build a better world alone or with friends.
You start in a vast and arid landscape with just ruins remaining. You explore to unearth resources to bring the world back to life. As you progress you slowly craft new tools, befriend local wildlife and defend the land from the vicious wraiths who seek to corrupt it.
It's a game where the environment needs human presence to flourish. As you do, you delve into the mystery behind the fallen civilisation to learn from their teachings, and mistakes, and master the arcane arts that once allowed them to thrive. What starts as a game about the land, turns into a story about harmonious relationships.
The result is an experience where in the short term you are extracting the resources you need from dead flora and fauna, but the real skill is making your resources last in the long term. You are soon reviving and cultivating seeds and plants to gather their precious materials. Then, by contacting lost spirits you’ll unlock spells and upgradables to help you on your mission to restore the landscape.
